About Spectpoint
Spectpoint is a diagnostic decision platform for car owners. You describe a symptom; we help you decide what to do next.
How it works
- Choose a symptom — for example, “car won’t start” or “coolant leak.”
- Answer two or three questions — plain language, based on what you can observe. No tools, no codes.
- Get a decision summary — what’s most likely, what you should do now, whether it’s safe to drive, and why we think so, with the evidence for and against.
Under the summary, every diagnosis shows its full reasoning: ranked causes, the evidence supporting or ruling out each one, safe checks you can do yourself, when to call a professional, and labeled cost ranges.
What Spectpoint is not
- Not a confirmed diagnosis. A possible cause is not a confirmed diagnosis — only hands-on testing by a qualified person confirms one. Every page says this; we don’t soften it.
- Not vehicle-specific intelligence. The year, make, and model you can save stay on your device for reference only. They do not change the reasoning, and we do not claim otherwise.
- Not a repair manual. Safe checks come with explicit “stop here if” points. Anything beyond them belongs to a professional.
- Not a substitute for judgment. If the car feels unsafe, treat it as unsafe — regardless of what any page says.
What we commit to
- Safety first. When the evidence points to danger, the verdict says stop driving — plainly, before anything else. Safety guidance is never influenced by commercial interests.
- Evidence you can inspect. Claims are labeled by type, likelihood is stated not implied, and sources are named. See the methodology.
- Honest uncertainty. Costs are labeled ranges with uncertainty levels and check dates — never false precision.
- Privacy by default. No accounts, no tracking cookies. What you type stays on your device. Details in the privacy policy.
